Discover GIRLS 3000 at Everard Read Cape Town, a bold group exhibition exploring femininity through excess, contradiction, and experimentation.
GIRLS 3000, now on view at Everard Read Cape Town, arrives with intent—and volume. A collaboration between GIRLS GALLERY and Everard Read, the exhibition builds on the curatorial trajectory of Dominique Cheminais and Keely Shinners, whose earlier iterations (GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS and GIRLS TOO: TOO MUCH, NEVER ENOUGH) positioned femininity as something expansive, unstable, and open to interrogation.
Here, that inquiry is amplified.
Working across disciplines and sensibilities, a multi-generational group of artists engage femininity at its edges—its contradictions, excesses, slippages, and its refusal to resolve neatly. The result is a show that leans into the maximal: wacky, glamorous, irreverent, and deliberately “too much.”
Emerging and established voices collide in a space that privileges experimentation over restraint, where play becomes a method and excess a language.
