Applications close 10 July 2026
Emerging curators across Africa are invited to apply for the 2026 edition of RMB Latitudes CuratorLab, a mentorship programme designed to support the next generation of curatorial voices through practical experience, professional development, and peer learning.
Now entering its sixth year, CuratorLab has established itself as an important platform for early-career curators looking to deepen their engagement with contemporary art and expand their professional networks. The programme combines mentorship with hands-on learning, offering participants an opportunity to develop curatorial skills within a collaborative environment.
The 2026 edition will select ten aspiring curators from across the African continent to participate in a facilitated online residency. Through workshops, mentorship, discussions, and project-based learning, participants will gain insight into the practical realities of curatorial practice while refining their own approaches to exhibition-making and research.
This year also sees the continuation of CuratorLab’s partnership with Art School Africa, building on a collaboration that has broadened the programme’s educational reach and strengthened its support for emerging cultural practitioners.
Importantly, the programme is open to applicants from diverse backgrounds. Formal curatorial qualifications are not required, although practical experience working on exhibitions, arts projects, or related initiatives is preferred.
For aspiring curators seeking to build a career in the visual arts, CuratorLab offers access to mentorship, industry knowledge, and a network of peers working across the continent at a moment when African curatorial practice continues to gain increasing international visibility.
