Gallery Assistant Internship
The Association for Visual Arts (AVA) is inviting applications for a paid, part-time Gallery Assistant Internship in Cape Town.
This temporary internship offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in the contemporary art sector while supporting the daily operations of one of South Africa’s longest-running visual arts organisations. The role focuses on gallery administration, reception duties, and general operational support, providing valuable exposure to gallery management and the broader contemporary art environment.

The Association for Visual Arts (AVA) promotes contemporary visual art through a programme of exhibitions featuring both emerging and established artists. The organisation supports experimental and discursive artistic practices and contributes to the development of South Africa’s contemporary art community.
Internship Details
Position: Gallery Assistant Intern
Location: AVA Gallery, Cape Town
Type: Paid, Part-Time Internship
Duration: 2 Months
Remuneration: R4,000 per month
Working Hours
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- Monday to Saturday
- Final schedule to be agreed with successful applicants
