AITY Gallery is proud to present Cloud Dancer, an upcoming group exhibition co-curated by Björn Thomas and Namrata Zala.
Cloud Dancer draws its point of departure from the Pantone hue , a colour poised somewhere between the sky and earth’s atmosphere. For this group exhibition artists approach the colour without constraint, leaning into its ambiguity.
Sitting between abstraction and figuration, it is neither fixed nor absolute: a conceptual point, a tonal prompt that provides a point from which artists expand.
The shade operates as a shared reference point, yet each interpretation drifts into its own register – speculative, intimate, and atmospheric. Loose and unrestrictive, the exhibition resists rigidity, foregrounding interpretation: how a colour can hold contradiction, carry a multitude of narratives or dissolve gestures.
Cloud Dancer therefore transforms, becoming less a fixed swatch and more an extended field of possibility expanding beyond its namesake.
Showing at AITY Gallery at the Old Biscuit Mill, 375 Albert Road, Woodstock, Cape Town.
