THK Gallery makes its debut at Photo London with a solo presentation by acclaimed South African artist Tshepiso Moropa in the fair’s Emergence Section at Olympia London.
Running from 13–17 May, the presentation brings together Moropa’s intricate hand-crafted collages, which draw from African historical archives, oral traditions, dreams and memory. With an academic background in Linguistics and Psychology, the artist constructs layered visual narratives that feel simultaneously ancestral and futuristic.
Moropa’s practice engages deeply with Dinaane (Setswana folktales) and Ditoro (dreams) as interconnected systems of knowledge. Her compositions resist rigid categorisation, instead offering fluid and open-ended ways of seeing, remembering and imagining.
The exhibition arrives during a significant moment in the artist’s career. Moropa has received major international recognition including the Out of Africa Prize (2022), the V&A Parasol Foundation Prize for Women in Photography (2025), and the Contemporary African Photography Prize (CAP) in 2024. Her work is currently featured in A Kind of Paradise at Museum Rietberg in Zurich, with a forthcoming presentation at the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography in Switzerland.
Presented as part of one of the leading international photography fairs, THK Gallery’s presentation offers visitors a compelling encounter with one of the most exciting contemporary voices emerging from the African art scene.
