Ntshalintshali celebrates the artistic legacy of Bonnie Ntshalintshali, one of the key figures in Ardmore’s history, through new ceramic works by her son Senzo Ntshalintshali and her nephews Somandla Ntshalintshali and Slulamile Mlambo.
Presented to mark Ardmore’s 40th anniversary, the exhibition reflects on the creative lineage that Bonnie helped establish. Her influence extended far beyond her own work, shaping the studio’s distinctive visual language and mentoring artists whose work would go on to define Ardmore’s reputation in South African ceramics.
The exhibition brings together a group of new masterworks that highlight the continuity of skills, storytelling and family tradition across generations. While each artist brings a distinct approach, the works share a connection to the imaginative world and collaborative spirit that Bonnie helped build.
Founded by Fée Halsted in rural KwaZulu-Natal, Ardmore has become one of South Africa’s most recognised ceramic studios, known for its richly detailed sculptures and handcrafted ceramics. Ntshalintshali offers an opportunity to celebrate both that wider legacy and the family at the heart of its enduring success.
