The Cape Gallery presents Annual Wildlife 2026, its annual group exhibition celebrating the diversity and beauty of the natural world through painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing and watercolour. Bringing together an extensive selection of established and emerging South African artists, the exhibition reflects a wide range of approaches to depicting wildlife, from closely observed studies to more expressive interpretations.

Inspired in part by J.M. Coetzee’s reflections on humanity’s relationship with animals, the exhibition invites viewers to consider the place of wildlife within a changing world. Rather than presenting a single narrative, the works offer many perspectives on the animals that share our landscapes, highlighting both their presence and their vulnerability.

The exhibition features works by more than 90 artists, including Jean Abrie, Noel Ashton, Paul Dixon, Ann Gadd, Peter Gray, Barry Jackson, Martin Koch, David Kuijers, Hastings Masina, Ebenezer Ndondo, Maureen Quin and many others, alongside a substantial selection of wildlife sculptures by leading South African sculptors.

First Thursday: 6 August, with the gallery open until 7pm.
