Winter arrives at EBONY/CURATED with a group exhibition that brings together more than twenty contemporary artists from South Africa and beyond.
The annual winter exhibition fills the gallery with paintings, sculpture and mixed-media works. Rather than following a single theme, A Very Loop Street Winter invites visitors to experience a broad range of artistic voices, with each gallery space offering a different perspective on contemporary practice.
The exhibition brings together established gallery artists alongside newer voices, with works ranging from bold figurative paintings and richly patterned compositions to expressive sculpture and contemporary portraiture. Featured artists include Richard Butler Bowdon, Soly Cissé, Lwando Dlamini, Kimathi Mafafo, Kelechi Charles Nwaneri, Tshepo Phokojoe and Zondi Skosana, among many others. The variety of styles and materials encourages visitors to spend time looking, comparing and discovering artists whose work may be unfamiliar.
For regular gallery visitors, group exhibitions like this offer an opportunity to see how different artists approach colour, form and material within a shared setting. For newcomers, it’s an accessible introduction to the breadth of contemporary African art represented by EBONY/CURATED.
